I lived at The Renee Garden Apartments (2900 NE 17th Ave) in Pompano Beach for 6 months. I do not have a lot of good things to say about the experience. I think the best thing was that you could vacate the lease after 6 months with 60 days notice.
In a 6-month stay, there were 3 maintenance requests and all of them took more than 1 week to address. And each of them was a serious inconvenience to me that they took as a casual matter to themselves.
Note that I had to file TWO tickets for a broken refrigerator. They closed the first job ticket without fixing it: the worker said the refrigerator needed to be replaced and he would order a replacement. Instead, the ticket closed and was marked fixed even though it was not fixed and I was without a refrigerator for several weeks. And the second time they came out the worker said he would be back with another refrigerator. He never came back and I had to call the office who then called the maintenance supervisor and it was then fixed 2 days later.
Regarding the sink, it was belching up food waste from neighboring sinks. I filed an emergency ticket over the weekend. Since it was filed as an emergency, I trusted they were working on it. But on Tuesday, a person in the office casually mentioned they would get to it once they had it lined up in their schedule. This led to me enjoying the sight and smell of neighboring sinks vomiting up into mine several times per day.
Delivery drivers cannot get in
I routinely received messages from FedEx and UPS saying they could not deliver my package. This is because the gate locks and there is no one to open it for them. So unless someone happens to leave the gate open, your package will not be delivered.
The kitchen is primitive
- One sink in kitchen
- No garbage disposal
The neighborhood is ghetto
Just walk around at various hours of the day and night and each direction and ask yourself if you want to be around what you see. In fact, I would suggest also visiting the apartment itself at various hours and deciding if you like what you see.
The apartment is mold-prone.
They added a mold addendum to the contract and I know why: in my place the wall had a 3 foot wide mold stain on it. They came to “fix” it, but it came back… and then I looked behind the closet door one day and there was 6 feet of mold stain from the floor to the ceiling. I once left out some chocolate.. A few hours later I came back to eat it and it had white fuzz on it.
Factual report of toilet clogging
On Friday Nov 15, 2024 my toilet would not work. So I filed a ticket that was received on a Friday at 7pm. I called Saturday and left a message indicating it was an emergency. There was no action on the ticket all weekend. At 2pm on Monday, I called and asked about my emergency and the reply was: “oh, it’s not on the schedule” … I said: “this is an emergency you were told about on Friday.” … Once she realized the urgency, she took steps to expedite the matter. The result of her expediting the matter: “they are busy fixing other emergencies and will get to you on Tuesday morning”
No on-site maintenance
Because Renee Apartments is managed remotely, there is no way to contact someone onsite for maintenance emergencies. Two of my emergencies happened on Friday and were filed as emergencies but there no action of any sort until Monday. And as I have stated, the “action” on Monday was simply deciding on when it was comfortable for them to get to it, not to attend to my urgency.

Levied deposit charges without evidence
I received the following charges upon move out:
- Wall Repair & Paint (Above wear & tear) $300.00
- AC Maintenance (Above wear & tear) $250.00
- Missing Smoke Detector (Above wear & tear) $25.00
- Repair Bathroom Cabinet Doors (Above wear & tear) $65.00
I have no issue with the missing smoke detector, but objected to the other 3 in writing on the grounds that they did not provide before and after evidence of me causing those problems.
No timely response to objection letter
My objection letter was received on Dec 24. I’ve asked them twice for evidence of their charges and they have not responded.
Made call to Barbara on 2/11/2025
- Can check with person in charge of refunds and get more info
- Give her until tomorrow after 1pm
OK, so now I’m calling on 2/17/2025 and want to know what Barbara has to say. She promised me a response the next day.
So now 3/3/2025 I left my final message
Inadequate advanced notice about tree trimming + confusing info
Inadequate Notice
Why was I notified at 1:03pm about this? They have been outside since 9am cutting trees… how about 24-48 hours notice?
varying info between text and email notifications
The email that was sent said;

The text message that was sent said:

So…
- why am I receiving on 6/26 at 1:03pm a notice that my car needed to be moved by 830am on 6/26?’
- why does the email say 6/27 and the text message say 6/26?
- Why are we given less than 24 hours about this?
Conclusion – not recommended.
I do not recommend this place. And my review this year, 2025, is not the first – you can see that someone else had similar issues 3 years ago.
